The actual order of work, so you know what you are paying for.
The old coating comes off. Cut back by hand along the whole edge. Painting over a cracked coat gives you a thicker cracked coat, and it lifts within weeks.
The edge is smoothed. Sanded flat and even. Everything you will see later depends on how straight it is at this point.
Built up in thin layers. Three or more, not one. Each one dries and is sanded before the next, which is why a properly built edge feels like part of the leather and not a line of paint on top.
Colour matched to the piece. Matched to the bag as it is today, not to the shade it left the shop in.
Sealed and burnished. Polished down to a finish that resists the hand oil and friction that killed the last one.
What this cannot do
A bag whose edges are worn through to the layers underneath may need the panel rebuilt first
A large colour change means recolouring the body too, or the new edge will not sit right against the old colour
Woven and fabric edges cannot be coated; those are bound or stitched instead

Questions
What does pickup and drop cost?
Free anywhere in Mumbai. Thane / Navi Mumbai / Panvel: ₹150. Outside Mumbai, anywhere in India: ₹250 by courier, both ways — please pack the item yourself before the courier arrives. Share your full address with PIN code and we will confirm it for your area.
Why do bag edges crack?
The edge coating is the thinnest finish on the bag, and the most handled part of it. Heat, humidity and friction break it down long before the leather goes.
Can you match my bag’s edge colour exactly?
We match to the piece as it is now. Most bags have shifted from the original shade, and matching today’s colour looks right; matching a catalogue shade does not.
Is this done on its own or with other work?
Both. Edges are often done with a clean or a recolour, because the bag is already with us and the result looks more even.
