Never superglue a bag: the quick fix that ruins it

The Upcycle Story · Andheri West, Mumbai · 25 October 2026 · 3 min read

A corner lifts, a handle edge opens, a sole starts to gape. The quick-fix glue tube is right there. Put it down.

What quick-fix glue really does

What to do instead

  1. Leave it as it is. A small lift today is a small repair. A glued lift is a big one.
  2. Stop it catching. Carry the bag in its dust bag, or turn the loose edge inward, until it is fixed.
  3. Send us a photo. Most lifting edges, corners and soles are a quick, clean fix with the right adhesive and pressing.
Not on bags, not on shoes, not even for one evening. Every week we see bags that a two-minute repair would have saved, ruined by two drops of glue.

Questions

Can superglue be removed from leather?

Rarely cleanly. The solvents that dissolve it also take off colour and finish. Do not try at home; send it to us.

What glue do you use?

Flexible leather adhesives that move with the material, applied under pressure, with the edge finished afterwards.

My shoe sole is coming off. Can I glue it for tonight?

Better not. Wear another pair tonight; a sole re-stuck properly lasts, a superglued one cracks and tears the edge.
